Biography

I am Professor (Professeur des Universités) of plant ecology and biogeography at the Aix-Marseille University / IMBE (Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Ecology).
My main topics of research are the biogeography and conservation of plant biodiversity at several geographical scales, from conservation genetics to macroecology, within the Mediterranean Biogeographic Region. My current researches are focused on the biogeographic process linked to the origin and evolution of the Mediterranean flora, and their implications towards a conservation biogeography framework. I also perform researches devoted to insular ecology, functional biogeography and I was involved into several programmes concerning the ecological and evolutionary consequences of biological invasion.
I am author of 266 publications (94 articles in SCI indexed Journals ; 45 articles in journals with editorial board ; 3 textbooks ; 5 special issues of journals ; 40 chapters of books ; 48 other publications).

I am member of 15 national and international scientific committees and 6 scientific societies.
From 1997 onwards, I have coordinated or participated in over 42 projects (14 international projects and 28 national projects).
I have been teaching for 23 years now, and I have taught more than 40 courses on a variety of topics (biogeography, ecology, conservation, population biology).
I have organized 2 international conferences. I have performed 25 invited talks and 85 other oral presentations at national and international conferences and workshops.
