Biography

Lúcia Lohmann serves as Director of the University & Jepson Herbaria and Full Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She also maintains an appointment in the Department of Botany of the University of São Paulo, in Brazil, and serves as President of the International Association for Plant Taxonomists (IAPT) and Executive Director of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC). Her research seeks to understand the origin and evolution of Tropical Biodiversity. She conducts focused work on the plant family Bignoniaceae and broad-scale analyses of entire biotas, such as the Amazon. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (AAA&S), the São Paulo Academy of Sciences (ACIESP), and a Corresponding Member of the Botanical Society of America (BSA).
