Biography

My research focuses on studying the evolutionary and ecological processes behind general patterns of biodiversity distribution, with special focus on endemism, rarity and geographic disjunctions. We used a combination of phylogenetic and genomic data, geographic databases, fossil evidence, paleoclimatic reconstructions, and morphological characterization. Our methodological approach employs the Bayesian Inference framework to integrate these different sources, and associated uncertainty. My latest projects tackle the role of climatic extinction on the African flora, and their effect at community levels.
