Biography

Ana M. Crespo de Las Casas Emeritus Professor of Botany at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Acharius Medal of the International Association for Lichenology and Medal of the Menéndez y Pelayo International University (1993). Full Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences, currently Secretary General. Her research activity has been focused in lichen forming fungi mainly facing phylogeny of cryptic species; she has also worked on the taxonomic boundaries of the phylogenetic concept of genus and in the reconstruction of evolutionary history of macro-lineajes of these symbiotic organisms.
