Professor in the Department of Botany and Zoology at Stellenbsch University. Her research is focused on several medicinal plant species from the greater Cape Floristic Region and aims to characterise responses of medicinal plants to their environments. She also is interested in the connection of plants and society and some of her work has exploited biotechnological applications for the conservation of medicinal plant biodiversity.
